The Tree of Life
The abundant life is what the Bible is all about. It’s how we live a life that is fulfilling and meaningful.

The Tree of Life
In the beginning of the Bible, in Genesis, we find something important in the very center of the Garden of Eden: the Tree of Life.
The tree is important because of its location. It is in the very center of the Garden. But, it’s also noteworthy where the Bible places it within its pages. The Tree of Life is the Bible’s bookend. It is in the center of the Garden at the beginning and it is in the center of Heaven in the last chapter.
Genesis 2:9
"Out of the ground the Lord God caused to grow every tree that is pleasing to the sight and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden..."
Revelation 22:1-2
"Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the middle of its street. On either side of the river was the tree of life."
There is something about the Tree of Life. Life is what God’s Word is all about. I want life, don’t you? The Tree of Life and God’s Word are intertwined somehow. Maybe we should take a closer look at it.
Let’s start here: you and I were created to have a relationship with God. It works like this: we worship Him and He blesses us. We call that the abundant life. It is living life the way God designed it.
The abundant life is what the Bible is all about. It’s how we live a life that is fulfilling and meaningful. That is the central message of the Bible and it was for this reason that Jesus came to earth.
John 10:10
“I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”
The abundant life is at the center of the Garden, the center of Heaven and it the center of the story of mankind. It opens God’s Word and ends it, and it fills every page from front to back. The Bible is the key to an abundant life.
Have you ever had a moment when you thought about picking up your Bible but found something better to do? Here’s what Peter once told Jesus about His Word:
John 6:68
“Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the Words of eternal life.”
Don’t ever underestimate the Bible. That book is the key to life itself.
