Second Advent
Jesus advises all to be on the watch at all times for His return.

Second Advent (by guest writer David Peterson)
While teaching in the temple Jesus responded to questions about when the temple destruction would occur and the signs to watch for. Jesus continues with signs of the coming of Son of Man. In Luke 21:25-28 Jesus is recorded as saying; There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, people fainting from fear and the expectation of the things that are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
Jesus continues with His warnings; “But be on your guard, so that your hearts will not be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that this day will not come on you suddenly, like a trap; for it will come upon all those who live on the face of all the earth. But stay alert at all times, praying that you will have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
Jesus advises all to be on the watch at all times for His return. Reverend Martyn Lloyd-Jones wrote: “The great doctrine of the second advent has in a sense fallen into disrepute because of the tendency on the part of some to be more interested in the how and the when of the second coming rather than in the fact of the second coming.” The reverend’s point is to indeed watch but never forget the meaning of Christ’s return for us! Redemption awaits all believers!
Peter Philip Bilhorn wrote “Behold He Cometh!’ in 1911 and each of the four verses start with the phrase “Behold the Lord is coming”. Bilhorn then completes each verse with what to expect from scripture. The chorus reminds us that He may return tonight!
Let us pray: Lord Jesus, your return for us is a promise we treasure. We prepare and await alertly your second advent as our redemption day! Amen.
