The Acts Of Worship - Proclaim (Part 2 of 2)

1 Chronicles 16:23

“Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day.”

Creation once sang joyfully before God but now it groans, awaiting something. That something involves you and I. What will bring the world to sing again? It is redemption. It is the freedom from the bondage to sin that we are all subject to. We are to proclaim good tidings of salvation in order to bring joy and singing back to the throne room of God.

Romans describes it like this:

Romans 8:19-21

“For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God.”

That requires proclamation. You and I are told to proclaim salvation. The New Testament calls that the Gospel. That means that we are to acknowledge our Redeemer by preaching the Gospel clearly, joyfully, loudly, often and to every soul, every nation and every part of creation. It is the proclaiming of His salvation that brings worship back to the throne room of God.

How does our world measure up to this command to proclaim these good tidings of salvation? You be the judge. Our culture follows the pattern of Glasgow, Scotland. Here is the original motto of Glasgow, followed by a revised version from the 19th century, and then the current motto you will find today.

“Let Glasgow flourish by the preaching of His Word and the praising of His Name.”

“Let Glasgow flourish by the preaching of His Word.”

“Let Glasgow flourish.”
