The Acts Of Worship - Proclaim (Part 1 of 2)

1 Chronicles 16:23

“Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day.”

Immediately following the command to worship God with singing, we are told to proclaim good tidings. It’s not coincidental that singing and proclaiming are placed together in worship. These two actions have had an interesting association from the beginning of creation to our current time on earth. Let me explain.

Singing existed before the Earth was even formed. The book of Job gives us an amazing heavenly insight into what took place when creation commenced. We are told that when God laid the foundations of the world:

Job 38:7

“…the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy.”

The creation of the world was a source of joy and singing. All of creation sang praises God. Palms 148 tells creation to “praise the name of the Lord”. Psalms 29 tells us that the heavens “declare His glory.”

All of creation sang to God, just as it was created to do. And then, something happened. Sin entered into creation. The great song leader fell and corrupted man, and all of creation with us. The next description we have of this heavenly host is the saddest report of all. Found in the book of Romans, Paul writes about this heavenly choir:

Romans 8:22

“For we know that the whole creation groans…”

What happened to the singing? Where are the heavenly voices that call out to God? Why aren’t they joyful?

They are waiting for you and I to do something. That’s for tomorrow.
