Keep Going! (by Justin Vance of Calvary Baptist Church)

Not long after I got to my first active-duty unit, I found myself the driver of a tank during my first gunnery. This was a big deal for us. Each role in a four-man tank is critical and serves a special function. As the new guy, there was a lot of pressure for me to get everything right on my end. The day-time portion went well. The night portion, however, not so much.

One of my tasks was to mount a night vision sight into my center vision block. Visibility is extremely limited, but a few tiny wing nuts later, my sight was mounted. We began the nighttime run with all the lights off, and night vision on. As we began moving, my scope fell on top of me. Not only was I in pain, but now I literally had no window to look through to see where I was going. I couldn’t see anything in front of me.

I slammed on the breaks. This was a timed event, and we were not off to a good start. My tank commander, after realizing what had just happened, shouted “Go!”

He gave me instructions from his position. We continued, navigating around barriers and turns, as the crew searched for targets. I did not know if “turn left” meant hard left, or easy left, but we figured it out. I had to complete this mission by listening to the guy in my headset and blindly drive forward as he gave me directions. Sound familiar?

We need to put our complete trust in Jesus. To know Jesus, means to trust Jesus. We do not always see what He sees. We just must listen to Him as He guides us through the obstacles and turns in our life.

If we are moving blind, keep going!

Psalms 9:9-10

The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble. And they that know Thy name will put their trust in Thee: For Thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek Thee.
