Five Steps Towards Godly Wisdom: Read And Pray (Part 1)

Psalms 119:105

Your word is a lamp to my feet

And a light to my path.

If we want to acquire the Wisdom of God, we need to seek it. Now, where in this world could we possibly find a tool that would reveal God’s Wisdom to us? Any guesses? Hmmm. Let’s see…

If you answered by saying anything other than “The Bible”, we’re gonna have to have a talk. The Bible is God’s revealed Word to you and me and it was revealed with the expressed intent of imparting God’s Wisdom to mankind. The Apostle Paul wrote:

2 Timothy 3:15

“…from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”

In fact, I would say that reading the Bible is the second thing we should do in seeking God’s Wisdom. Second? What in the world could be the first?

Pray.

Prayer is how we seek Wisdom from God. It works this way: prayer and reading the Word are a holy conversation with God. We pray for His divine guidance and direction and then we open His Word and learn from it. This is how we grow in faith and increase in knowledge and wisdom.

Over the next couple of days, we’ll look at how we can become wise through prayer and reading the Word.
