Why Me Lord?
Not only was the object of God’s plan the person who we are ministering to, but we ourselves were also impacted by God’s grace and comfort to another. When those times of doubt and confusion come into our lives, we can look back and remember the great work that God did in the life of our friend, and our faith can be strengthened and matured, ready for the next “assignment” from our loving Lord and Saviour.

Why Me Lord? (by Tim Klink of Prison Discipleship Ministry)
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
“Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”
In my work with men and women who find themselves incarcerated, the one question that seems to present itself most often is, “Why is God doing this to me?” I try to show them that the situation they are in is usually the result of poor choices, and that God didn’t force them to choose unwisely. However, it is through God’s unconditional love for them that He has allowed them to come to a place where they can hear and learn what God wants to show them.
It isn’t possible for me to say some “magic” words, and all of their pain and hurt is gone, but the Holy Spirit takes the Word of God as it’s presented to them, and brings peace and comfort to many as they allow it. Many times they see the answer to their question of “why me?” in the love that God displays to them, and their heart responds, which accomplishes the entire purpose for them being where they are.
There is also another side to the work we do in bringing the Word of God to others. As we move forward in God’s will, we too are blessed with that same unconditional love that God has for us. We see first hand what they are going through, and our hearts identify with their pain, suffering, confusion, and anger. But then we have front row seats to the amazing work that God’s Holy Spirit begins to do in their situation, and ourhearts are blessed beyond measure.
