Truthfulness
Jesus is the Truth and everything He says is truthful, through and through, yet His accusers doubt His words.

Truthfulness (by David Peterson at The Rock Of Jesus Church)
In Jerusalem, on the night of His arrest, Jesus is bound up and paraded around in front of Annas, Caiaphas, and Pontius Pilate all seeking to judge Him. In the first of two appearances in front of Pilate, the Roman governor, Jesus is quizzed about Him being a king and exactly what He has done for the Jews to ask for judgement. In John 18:37 this conversation takes place; “You are a king, then!” said Pilate. Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
Jesus is the Truth and everything He says is truthful, through and through, yet His accusers doubt His words. Even Pilate doubts His Truth and glibly, cynically, mocks Jesus by asking Him “What is truth?”
Christian writer, Sean Kehoe, answers Pilate’s question in this way; “In fact, the answer was standing right in front of Pilate. Jesus Himself is Truth. Everything about Him is whole, complete, consistent, and righteous. He is full of integrity and soundness. That is true of Jesus and also of His Word, the Bible.” This answer is one we can rely on!
Barney E. Warren, hymn writer and pastor, wrote the hymn “Truth Divine” in 1907. Here is the first verse and refrain;
Truth divine, by angels spoken,
Clothed in strains of music grand;
Like a chain with links unbroken,
Like a rock on which we stand.
Refrain:
Rock of truth, on thee abiding—
Thus protected we shall be
In Jehovah’s presence hiding,
Unto all eternity.
This hymn is based on Deuteronomy 32:4 where Jesus is the Rock of Truth, an upright, work of perfection. Jesus is a faithful God, without deceit; he is truthfulness.
Let us pray: Jesus, You are the source of all truth and wisdom, we come before You now seeking Your guidance and direction. We ask that You lead us into all truth, that we may know You more fully, and follow You more closely. Amen!
