Our Eternal Hope - Part 2

Who is worthy to open the scroll? Who is it that can unleash the apocalypse and final judgment on mankind?

Revelation 5:4-5

"Then I began to weep greatly because no one was found worthy to open the book or to look into it; and one of the elders said to me, 'Stop weeping; behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so as to open the book and its seven seals.'"

The Lion of Judah? Isn’t that Jesus? Isn’t that the Lamb of God Who came, lived and died among mankind? The meek and humble Lamb can open the scroll! Jesus is worthy!

He takes the scroll and begins to open it. The Humble Lamb from Nazareth is now the Lion Of Judah. Once the scroll is opened, nothing will ever be the same! This moment will be the culmination of all of history. John stops weeping and every living creature falls down in worship of our God.

This is the story of redemption. Why is the Lion worthy? Because He overcame. The Lion of Judah, Jesus, proved Himself to be worthy by becoming a one of us, living a perfect life, giving Himself as our sacrifice - defeating sin and death - so that we could be restored to our Creator.

Revelation 5 is about the hope that Jesus brought by living and dying for us. He led us out of darkness and into light.

Colossians 1:13

For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son.

He is Faithful and Worthy and He is our Lord and Savior! He is the One upon whom all of humankind must come to terms with. He is the Messiah.

Revelation 5:9

“And they sang a new song, saying,

‘Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.’”

Can I get an amen?
