Trusting What You Cannot See
When you trust someone, you don’t need them to explain every decision.

When God Is Silent
Trusting What You Cannot See
Proverbs 20:24
“Man’s steps are ordained by the Lord, how then can man understand his way?”
At some point, the questions don’t all get answered. At least, not fully, in the way we might hope. And that’s where faith either struggles … or settles. You see, the goal is never complete understanding. It is trust.
II Corinthians 4:18
“While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen…”
Faith is not built on constant clarity. It’s built on confidence in God’s character. Hebrews tells us:
Hebrews 11:1
“Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”
Let’s be honest about what those verses mean. There will always be parts we don’t see. We will always have moments we don’t fully understand. But that doesn’t mean God is uncertain. It means you’re being invited to trust Him more deeply.
When you trust someone, you don’t need them to explain every decision. You trust who they are. That’s what this becomes. We’re not trusting outcomes or timing. We’re trusting Him.
A.W. Tozer once said, “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.”
That’s because that determines whether we trust Him when we cannot see. You may not understand what God is doing—but you can trust who He is.
Take a moment and name the place where things still don’t make sense. Maybe it’s an unanswered prayer. A delay. A silence that hasn’t lifted.
Now, instead of trying to resolve it, place it in God’s hands. Not as something you’ve figured out—but as something you are choosing to trust Him with.
You may not feel different but something real has happened: You’ve shifted from needing control to choosing trust.
Think about this today: am I trusting God only when I understand Him? What would it look like to trust Him here—in this situation—even without clarity?
