The Wishing Well
How many times, since I was a little kid, have I wished that there was a magic wishing well where I could just drop in a coin and make my wishes come true! I can tell you from experience that it doesn't work that way. How disappointing!
It took me a while to figure out wishing wells. The wishing well is actually a trap. It offers a cheap fix. The same is true about all of our efforts to find shortcuts to happiness.
In John 4, a woman came to a well looking for water. She wanted to quench her thirst but she ended up having a talk with Jesus about life. He told her that if she looked carefully, there were actually two wells standing in front of her. One of them offered a drink of water. The only drawback was that she would become thirsty again. She would always have to come back for more water. The other well offered Living Water. Drink from that well and she would never be thirsty again!
Which well would you choose? Well, to be more pointed, which well HAVE YOU CHOSEN? You see, you’ve already made that choice. Do you live your life just trying to take care of your physical needs, never quenching the spiritual thirst in your life?
Do you see the point Jesus was getting at? We are physical beings with bodies made out of flesh and blood, but we also have spiritual needs. If you never take care of the spiritual side of your life, you become unbalanced and things unravel on you. You can’t ignore the spiritual.

Read John 4. That woman met the Well of Living Water. She quenched her spiritual needs and her life was changed forever!
Take a drink of that Living Water. You don't realize the difference it makes until you do it.

"As the deer pants for the water brooks, So my soul pants for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the Living God; When shall I come and appear before God?"
