The Prince Of Peace - Part 1
Peace is something that we all look for in this life. That quest can be a struggle for many of us because our world has been at war for most of its history. War is in our nature.
Two thousand years ago, on the night that Jesus was born, a host of angels appeared to a small group of shepherds and announced the bringing of peace to our world:
Luke 2:13-14
“And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!’”
Let’s stop here and reflect for a moment on the past several centuries of world history. Not always a pretty sight, is it? I mean, there have been some great moments but I think it's fair to stop and ask a question or two. Where is this peace? It's been a while now. Why no peace? What happened?
Allow me offer an answer. As we look over the scope of world history, it all comes down to this: there is a spiritual battle taking place on this earth between God and evil and it involves you and me. It’s a battle between the prince of darkness and the Prince of Peace and we, whether we like it or not, are combatants in that war. There is no neutrality.
