The Parables Of Jesus - The Wineskins: Part 1

Let’s take a look at another of the Parables of Jesus. In Mark 2, Jesus has begun His earthly ministry. He has been baptized by John the Baptist and then driven out into the wilderness to be tested by Satan. From there, He went into the local towns where He amazed people with His teaching.

As His ministry spread, He became more and more popular. He was performing miracles, teaching new things, healing people of their diseases. Demons fled before Him. The world had not seen anything like this before.

Everywhere He went, people followed. In fact, it became so crazy that He had to retreat to the “unpopulated” areas.

Mark 1:45

“...Jesus could no longer publicly enter a city, but stayed out in unpopulated areas; and they were coming to Him from everywhere.”

These religious leaders were interested in what Jesus was saying. They flocked to Him, but not as seekers, like the rest of the people. These were the educated elite.
