The Parables Of Jesus: The Talents - Part 3
What people fail to remember is that the book of Matthew doesn’t end with the Parable of the Talents. There is more to the story. The very next verses in Matthew 25 tell about the final judgment. Ultimately, what concerns God more than anything else is that we participate in saving people from that by showing them the love of Christ.

The Parables of Jesus: The Talents - Part 3
The Christian faith is built on the ideas of hope, peace, joy and love. There was none of that in the fearful servant. When a Christian behaves that way, there is no evidence that he or she is saved at all.
So, here comes the hard part. Look carefully at your own life with Jesus. Have you made a difference for anyone? Have you increased God’s treasure and helped anyone else? Has the Kingdom of God grown because of your words or actions? Those are tough questions to ask, aren’t they?
Or, have you taken what God has entrusted to you and buried it where it will never benefit anyone else? Because, if that’s the case, it’s not benefiting you either.
The lesson is this: God is pleased with those who use what they have been given to make a difference in the lives of others. Don’t get me wrong, you don’t have to be a Billy Graham or a Charles Spurgeon or some super spiritual giant. You just have to be able to love when someone needs loving, care when someone needs caring and help when someone needs help. Those are the Christian’s treasures. Will you be able to say that you were a faithful servant who used your treasure to reach out to others?
What people fail to remember is that the book of Matthew doesn’t end with the Parable of the Talents. There is more to the story. The very next verses in Matthew 25 tell about the final judgment. Ultimately, what concerns God more than anything else is that we participate in saving people from that by showing them the love of Christ.
We are stewards of God’s grace and mercy, not hoarders. His love is meant to be shared. That is an investment that will multiply on its own.
