The Lord’s Prayer - "For Thine is the Kingdom"

As we begin to wrap up our look at The Lord's Prayer, it's good to take this day and consider why it is that we pray in the first place. We are citizens of a heavenly Kingdom. That means that our King is not an earthly one. Our King is God Himself.

We pray to our King in order to become likeminded with Him. When we pour out our hearts before Him, He faithfully hears us and blesses us from His throne in heaven. Although we live here on earth with earthly rulers, we know in our hearts that our King is above and He is our God. It is Him that we serve.

Wherever we may dwell, there will be powers. There are city municipalities, county administrations, state governments and federal authorities but we serve only the One True King.

We are governed by democracies, republics, monarchies, dictatorships, socialist regimes and emirates on this earth, but we serve only the One True King.

Our leaders are good and bad, some are corrupt and some honest, some are capable and some inept, but we serve only the One True King.

Some governments are malicious and militant, others benevolent and peaceful. Some kill and destroy and others build up and encourage, but we serve only the One True King.

Our King is Jesus and it does not matter where I live on this planet or who I am governed by on the earth; He is my King. I am a citizen of His Kingdom and it is God in whom I trust.

When we pray, “Thine is the Kingdom,” we are affirming that we serve a King who is Worthy and True and that we are His, and His alone.

1 Chronicles 29:11

“Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O Lord, and You exalt Yourself as head over all.”
