The Lord’s Prayer - "And The Power"
How can you be a teacher of God and not realize that He has power? It is remarkable that any follower of Jesus could fail to believe that God can do what He says He will do. He has power. He is able. He is God!

The Lord’s Prayer - "And The Power"
The part of the New Testament that includes The Lord's Prayer is a book written by Matthew. Matthew was a disciple of Jesus and he did not write or speak English. He spoke Aramaic and his book is written in Greek.
When he wrote the last line of the Lord’s Prayer, he used the Greek word "dunamis" which means power. It is the same word from which we get the English term dynamite and it refers to strength or might. Jesus wants us to remember God’s power when we pray.
In Matthew 22:29, Matthew used the same word to tell a story about Jesus as He argued with His opponents. A group of religious teachers had challenged Jesus and they were trying to trick Him into saying something that the people would be upset about. Jesus handled that situation masterfully as He turned the tables on them. He told them why they were wrong. He said, "The reason you are wrong is that you don't understand the scriptures nor the power of God." (Matthew 22:29)
Imagine that! How can you be a teacher of God and not realize that He has power? It is remarkable that any follower of Jesus could fail to believe that God can do what He says He will do. He has power. He is able. He is God!
The failure to understand God's power leads us to the error of doubt. Doubt is the mortal enemy of faith.
The next time you look at the sun, consider that God created that enormous ball of fire by thinking a single thought! That is the power of God that we are talking about!
When you pray, is your idea of God as big as God's power? God is bigger than you can possibly imagine. Don't underestimate Him. Power belongs to Him and He is able. Do your prayers reflect that?
Ephesians 3:20-21
“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.”
