The Key to the Gospel (Part 5 of 6)
As we have learned over the last couple of days, our hearts are not in the right place with God. If we want to become right with Him, we need to change something. So, how do we do that? Proverbs tells us exactly what to do.
Proverbs 3:6
“In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.“
What does it meant to acknowledge God in all of our ways? It means that God has to become the most important thing to us. As Colossians 1:18 says, He should come to “have first place in everything.”
There is a process to doing this. It is called repentance. Repentance means that we turn away from the things we used to do and we commit our lives to living for God. We surrender our hearts to Him and we invite Him to live in us as the Lord of our lives.
When we live our lives with Jesus in our hearts, we are acknowledging that He is God and things start to change for us. We find ourselves gradually falling in line with the ways of Jesus. We become transformed to His will and we begin to think like He thinks and to do things the way that He would do them.
The next thing you know, we are living a new life and our path is straight and right on target. This is why there are two billion people in the world who call themselves Christians and who are living changed lives.
If you have never prayed to commit your life to Jesus, take a minute and do that right now. If you need someone to guide you through it, just ask for help.
Tomorrow: what are the long range implications of the transformed life?
