The Inspired Word - Breathed out by God
2 Timothy 3:16
“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness.”
When we say that Scripture is inspired by God” we mean that it is God-breathed. Scripture isn’t merely influenced by God, it is breathed out by Him. Every Word carries the warmth of His breath and the weight of His authority.
That means when you open your Bible, you are not just reading ancient wisdom or a good book. You are receiving words that originated in the very mind and heart of the Living God. The breath that formed Adam, revived dry bones, and empowered the prophets is the same breath that fills every page of Scripture. God breathed His truth into human authors so that the final product is nothing less than His own voice, perfectly preserved and wholly trustworthy.
This impacts how we approach the Bible. When Scripture speaks, God speaks and with clarity and purpose: to teach, correct, train, expose, comfort, confront, and form us into people who look like Christ. If the Bible feels sharp at times, that is because His breath is not just air — it is life-producing fire. It burns away our self and brings truth into focus.
God’s breath brings life. Jesus said, “The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.” When you read your Bible, you’re not just reading but taking in oxygen for your soul. You’re breathing what God breathes. That’s is why a simple verse can steady a heart, silence a lie, or illuminate a path.
The God who spoke creation into existence spoke His Word for you to hear — the Word that reveal His character, His promises, His warnings and His deliverance. The Bible is not about people reaching for God but about God reaching for us. It is His breath leaning in toward you, speaking to you.
So come to the Word with expectation. Come believing that you are about to hear the Living God speak. Let His breath fill the places where fear, confusion, and weariness have taken residence. Let His Word shape your thoughts, steady your steps, and renew your hope.
The Inspired Word is more than a book. It is the breath of God that gives life.
