The Empowering Word: It Gives Strength
I have a confession to make. Are you ready?
I am weak.
I hope that doesn’t surprise you too much. I’m human, after all. The truth is, we all fall short now and then.
Do you ever have those moments when you feel like you just can’t do it on your own? Those are real “God moments.” They’re the pivotal points in our lives when we finally turn to God and say, “Lord, I need Your strength to get through this.”
When that happens, I always turn to God’s Word. Jesus did that, too. When He was in the wilderness and Satan came to tempt Him, Jesus answered every challenge by quoting Scripture.
God’s Word gives us strength when we need something extra. Isaiah 40 tells us that God never grows weary or tired. He “gives strength to the weary” (Isaiah 40:29) and then He promises:
Isaiah 40:31
“Yet those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.”
This is how God’s Word encourages us when we have nothing left. His Word feeds us and nurtures us, reminding us that our strength doesn’t come from within—it comes from Him.
And when you feel like you can’t take another step, remember one of the most encouraging verses in the entire Bible:
Joshua 1:9
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
God knows, and He cares. He’s there to lift you up when you’re weary and to give you exactly what you need to make it through another day. That’s what His Word is for—it reveals a God who is strong when we are weak, and able when we are not.
Have you ever had a time when you felt too weak to continue—and God showed up in that moment? That happens when we turn to God’s Word first instead of waiting until we’re overwhelmed and beaten.
So, what would it look like for you to “wait on the Lord” this week? It’s worth the wait.
