The Comforting Word: A Sure Foundation
One of the great joys of being a Christian is having the Bible as our sure foundation and source of strength. It’s vital that we read it regularly and build our lives upon its truth.
That’s especially important today, as we watch the world around us shake and shift. Economies collapse, diseases threaten, businesses close, leaders rise and fall, loved ones pass away, and even churches change.
So where do we look for comfort and stability? The Bible, of course! God’s Word can encourage us every single day—no matter what’s happening in the world around us.
Let’s start with this simple truth: every day is a new start. God created a world so stable and dependable that we can use that very stability as a picture of His faithfulness. Think about it—every morning the sun rises, and every evening it sets. It has happened since the beginning of time.
God designed the world this way so that His creation would remind us of His unchanging nature. Look at these verses:
Hebrews 13:8
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
Psalm 19:1
“The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.”
The world itself reflects God’s constancy. And just as the sun rises faithfully each day, God’s mercies rise fresh every morning. His Word is our rock, our anchor, and our compass in an unstable world.
So, when you wake up tomorrow morning, look out the window and remember: God has given you another day. Open your Bible. Read His Word. Let Him speak peace into your heart.
If you do that, you’ll find that your day—and your life—will be built on a foundation that cannot be shaken.
Luke 1:78–79
“…the Sunrise from on high will visit us … to guide our feet into the way of peace.”
Take a moment to thank God for one way He’s shown His unchanging nature in your life this week.
