The Acts Of Worship - Sing (Part 2)
1 Chronicles 16:9, 23
“Sing to Him, sing praises to Him.”
“Sing to the LORD, all the earth.”
Singing was created by God for a purpose and it was with us from the very beginning.
Job 38:4-7
“Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding … Or who laid its cornerstone, when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?”
That passage tells us that singing began when everything was created, that singing and unity are divinely intertwined and that proper singing should involve shouting and joy!
Does that describe your singing? Does your singing seem like it was something you were created to do? Does it bring you closer to those around you? Do you sometimes feel so much joy when you sing that you want to shout out loud? That is what worship is all about. The music and the lyrics taken up and down and right into the throne room of God.
We were created to be worshippers and your voice is a part of the eternal choir that surrounds the throne of God singing praises to Him for all of eternity.
Revelation 5:11-13
“Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, ‘Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing.’”
“And every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them, I heard saying, ‘To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever.’”
We sing in church to accomplish these three things. Our voices are united as one, we rejoice in praise before our Lord and God. We will never tire of it and it will never get old for us. It is, after all, what we were created to do.
You are a singer in God’s eternal choir. Lift up your voice and sing!
