Sharing Jesus

When I share my faith with someone, I try to put myself into their shoes.

•What are they struggling with?

•Why should they be interested in Jesus?

In other words,

•how can Jesus help this person right now?

The best thing to do is to just be real and tell them exactly what Jesus did for you. In Psalms 66, the Choir Director describes a series of harsh problems that he and his people had gone through. But, when they came through it all, he said:

Psalms 66:16

“...I will tell of what He has done for my soul.”

That is what sharing our faith is all about. People want to know that there is hope for them. People may not understand words like salvation, repentance, redemption, and justification. But they understand hopelessness and guilt. They understand broken relationships. When we tell them what Jesus has done in our lives, those biblical truths become real.”

Big theological words don’t mean a thing to people who are looking for meaning and purpose. Kit tell them about who Jesus is and what He did for you.

  • Jesus brought meaning to my life.

  • He gave me hope.

  • He changed me.

  • He pulled me out of my darkness.

Those are the things that people need to hear. Did Jesus give you hope? Tell them that. Has He changed you? Let them know what you used to be like. Do you see things differently today? Tell them how and why.

People want to know that Jesus can take their brokenness and make something out of it. That just happens to be His specialty!

2 Corinthians 5:17

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”

The blind man whom Jesus healed didn’t have a theology degree. He couldn’t answer every question the religious leaders asked him. But he knew one thing:

John 9:25

“One thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see.”

Most people aren’t looking for a debate. They’re looking for hope. And one of the most powerful things we can do is simply tell them what Jesus has done for our soul.
