In Times Of Trouble

All days are not created equal. Some mornings, we climb out of bed ready to tackle the day that is ahead of us. We start at the front door and things just seem to fall into place throughout the day. I love those kind of days!

Then, there are the other days. You know..."those" days. The type of day that make you wish you had never left the house. The kind of day where it seems like people are lining up to take their shot at you and everything you own is falling apart.

How do you get through a day like that?

Even King David had his share of those days. Psalm 37 is about just such a day. Take a couple minutes and read that Psalm. It’s worth the 2-3 minutes.

Now ... did you notice what God never says in this chapter of the Bible? He never told David that he wouldn't have days like that. David describes some pretty nasty things in Psalms 37 and yet God never once promised His chosen king that he would never have to deal with that kind of stuff. What He said was that He will be there with him when those days come and He will help him to get through them.

Days like that are important for us. They remind us that we are still living on an imperfect planet. They teach us that we are not any better than anyone else. And, (this is the important part so underline this one) they make us stronger.

How in the world do lousy days make me stronger? They do that by teaching us to rely on God for strength and encouragement.

Every bad day is like going to the gym. It’s like a workout for your soul. It deepens your love for God and builds up your spiritual strength.

Remember that He is with you and He is watching over you. Keep your eyes on Him and you will come out into a place of peace and joy!

It may seem far off but it is just around the corner. You just can’t see it yet.

Psalms 37:39-40

"But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their strength in time of trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them; He delivers them from the wicked and saves them, Because they take refuge in Him. He is our strength in troubled times."
