I Found Jesus … Now What?
The name of Jesus is a reference to who He is at His very core. Every name of Jesus is a revelation of His nature and being. In fact, you can’t truly understand who Jesus is until you grasp the entire picture of what that entails.

I Found Jesus … Now What?
I have a friend that I meet with often who is a retired pastor. From time to time, when I call him on the phone, he’ll answer by saying “Well, you’ve got him. Now what’re ya gonna do with him?”
I always chuckle when he says that, but it’s really kind of poignant. It’s easy to come to terms with the fact that God exists. That’s the easy part. It’s not that hard to find Him. When God gets your attention, He puts someone in your life to help you with that. The real question is this: now that you’ve got Him, what are you gonna do with Him?
We just finished talking about finding the real Jesus and what He is like. So, now we have to decide what we’re going to do about that. Our response to God is dependent on us and what we are like. But, it is even more dependent on who He is and what He does?
That being said, the very first thing that happens in Revelation 1 after John describes what Jesus looks like is Jesus telling us His name. More accurately, He reveals His names.
I once did a series on “The Names of God” where I noted that there are over 900 names for God in the Bible. Likewise, there are about 90 or more names for Jesus. Now, look at this verse:
Acts 4:12
“And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
The name of Jesus seems to be pretty important! I’d also like to suggest that His name is not just words and letters. The name of Jesus is a reference to who He is at His very core. Every name of Jesus is a revelation of His nature and being. In fact, you can’t truly understand who Jesus is until you grasp the entire picture of what that entails. That means knowing who He is and what He has done.
So, let’s buckle in and take a look at some of those names of Jesus and let’s put them into action. Let’s go deep because it’s not just about who Jesus is; It’s about what He does. That determines how we respond to Him.
So, what name is His name - or names - and what does that reveal about Him? Let’s start tomorrow by looking at the very first name Jesus mentions: His true name, I Am.
