I Am the Way, the Truth and the Life
People believe that Jesus is alright for some, but we need to let others choose whatever path to God they feel comfortable with.

I Am the Way, the Truth and the Life
In John 14:6, Jesus makes three bold claims. This is the most well-known of His I Am sayings. It is such an important passage that I will spend a day on each one.
Let’s start here: Jesus said, “I Am the Way.” So, let’s ask the easy question first. “The way to what?”
Well, in the very next sentence, He talks about coming to the Father. So, He is telling us how we get to God. He is saying that He is the pathway to the Father.
Now, let’s ask the hard question. It’s a tough one because it is the one I hear more than any other when I talk to non-believers about Jesus.
People believe that Jesus is alright for some, but we need to let others choose whatever path to God they feel comfortable with. We live in an age of diversity and tolerance. Our world says, “Your path works for you, my path works for me.”
That’s not what Jesus said. He said, “I Am the Way.” There is a word in there that we can’t overlook. It is the word, “the.” Jesus didn’t say He was “A” way. He didn’t say that He was “one of many” ways. He said that He was THE way and that no one can come to the Father except though Him.
Why so hateful and so narrow minded? Why can’t Jesus just let us take whatever way we want to God?
It all boils down to this: what are we trying to accomplish? Are we just trying to learn some things about God? Are we just trying to get to know Him better?
No. What we are trying to do is to be made right with God. We have sinned and separated ourselves from Him. We have fled from Him and we desperately need to be reconnected to Him. There is NO way for us to do that. There are NO options for us. We left Him and slammed the door shut.
So, if we can’t get back to God, how do we reconnect with Him? The only hope is for God to reach out to us and give us a pathway back to Him.
This verse is about that Way. God has offered us a pathway to Him! This is great news! Jesus isn’t being narrow-minded or intolerant. He’s just letting us know the way things are. God reached out to solve the problem for us!
Take hold of the only lifeline God has given to us. Jesus is the Way!
