I Am the Life

In all the world, one thing keeps all of us connected and that is the desire for life. This is the goal, isn’t it? To live? Jesus is the Life. That’s the third part of John 14:6.

We are all alive at this moment. You would not be able to read this if you were not. So, if we have life without Him, what is Jesus talking about?

In the book of Deuteronomy, the last few chapters spell out what life is really all about. Here’s what it says:

Deuteronomy 30:19-20

“I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants, by loving the Lord your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life ...”

Moses wrote those words from God. He tells us that life is found by “holding fast” with God. If someone asked you how to hold fast with God would you know what to do?

The key is found in John 14:23. It has to do with two things: obeying God and loving Him. Here’s how that works:

John 14:23

“If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.”

We hold fast to God by allowing Christ into our hearts. This gives us a personal relationship with Him and life forever more! That’s what we mean when we say that Jesus is the Life! He lives in our hearts and restores our lives.

Have you ever thought that your life doesn’t really have any meaning or purpose? Have you ever felt like your life is not valuable or fulfilling? Jesus is telling you why that is so. It’s because you are disconnected from the One who designed and created you.

If you want meaning and purpose in life—if you want a fulfilling and rewarding life—you need to restore your relationship with Jesus who IS life. He is the missing piece to your puzzle.

1 John 5:20

And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
