Five Steps Towards Godly Wisdom: Read And Pray (Part 4)

I asked you to think about two verses over the weekend: Deuteronomy 4:5-6 and 32:46-47. Those verses pound home the idea that God’s Wisdom is found in the pages of His Bible. He calls His Word “Our Wisdom and Understanding” and “Our Life” which will prolong our days.

You see, God’s Word is not just ink and paper. God’s Word is living and active. It knows our hearts and our thoughts and nothing is hidden from its sight. (Hebrews 4:12-13)

It “performs work” in believers. (I Thessalonians 2:13)

According to Psalms 119, God’s Word never changes, never fails, never fades away, is never wrong, never falters and is always true, always pure, always clean, always good, always righteous, always wonderful, ever reviving, full of discernment and knowledge, settled in heaven, established on earth, full of wisdom and understanding, sweeter than honey and exceedingly broad, a light to my path and a lamp to my feet, imparting life and inspiring awe.

God’s Word sustains, rejoices, upholds, comforts, satisfies, delights, delivers, teaches, strengthens and brings peace.

Wisdom is found by spending time in God’s Word. When we pray for Wisdom and seek God’s will, we turn to His Word and let it settle in our hearts.

1 Peter 1:22-23

“Since you have in obedience to the truth purified your souls for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart, for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring Word of God.”
