Finding Christ in the Feast of First Fruits

The First and the Best

“Each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ’s at His coming.” — 1 Corinthians 15:23

Every detail of the Feast of Firstfruits points to Jesus. The timing — the morning after the Sabbath following Passover — aligns perfectly with the dawn of His resurrection. The sheaf lifted up before the Lord prefigures the Son lifted from the grave, presented as holy and acceptable to God. The first sheaf consecrated the rest of the harvest — and Christ’s resurrection consecrates all who belong to Him.

In that empty tomb, God accepted the offering of His Son as the first of a new creation. Just as the priest waved the first bundle before the Lord with joy, heaven rejoiced as Christ, the “firstborn from the dead,” was raised in glory. His rising declares that a greater harvest is coming — every believer who sleeps in Christ will one day rise just as He did.

So the Feast of Firstfruits becomes a living promise: the grave is not the end. What God did for His Son, He will do for all who are His.

When you see new life breaking through the soil in spring, remember — that’s the Gospel growing before your eyes.

Do you live with resurrection expectation, or earthly resignation? What would change if you truly believed that every loss, every sorrow, and even death itself will one day be raised in victory? The Firstfruits have already risen — and His harvest is coming soon.
