Faith’s Hall Of Fame: The Ten Plagues
That’s why Pharaoh‘s heart was hardened, so that God could judge everyone of their false deities and show Himself to be True.

Faith’s Hall Of Fame: The Ten Plagues
Hebrews 11:27
“By faith … he endured, as seeing Him who is unseen.”
When we think of Moses, returning to Egypt, we understand that he was sent to deliver God’s people from slavery, but there was more to it than that. A judgment was coming on the house of Pharaoh.
When Moses entered the Pharoah’s palace and demanded the release of God’s people, he wasn’t just confronting Pharoah about the enslavement of God’s people. There was a spiritual takedown that was about to take place. Moses was bringing a full-on spiritual war against Egypt’s false gods.
The Pharoah had gods who ruled over all areas of life in Egypt. They were called “The Great Nine” but there was a problem. They were not real. They were imaginary beings who had stolen Gods’ glory and stood in God’s place.
Pharaoh had immense power and influence in the Middle East. He could have used his position to declare the glory of God but, instead, he offered fake idols and even proclaimed himself to be God. The True God was now ready to pronounce judgment and reveal Himself.
One by one, each god or goddesses of the Egyptians was systematically exposed and shown to be a fraud. The priests of Hapi, god of the Nile, watched helplessly as the Nile turned to blood. Ra, the sun god, was humbled when darkness covered the land for 3 days.
Each false god was mocked as God proved Himself to be the One True Living God. Locusts swarmed the crops. A hailstorm of fire and thunder wreaked havoc. The livestock were destroyed. Boils beset the nation. The god of the harvest, the god of dew and rain, the god of the cattle and of health were all systematically dismantled and exposed as frauds.
In the end, Osiris, the Egyptian god of the afterlife, would suffer the greatest defeat as the Passover Lamb would be revealed as the only way to be saved.
All the while, God stayed firm and unleashed His wrath on a false system that tried to replace Him with cheap substitutes that did nothing, said nothing and were completely and utterly worthless. They were mocked and humbled, exposed for what they were: imaginary imposters.
Exodus 12:12
“… and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments—I am the LORD.”
That’s why Pharaoh‘s heart was hardened, so that God could judge everyone of their false deities and show Himself to be True.
