Faith’s Hall of Fame: The Parting of the Red Sea

Hebrews 11:29

“By faith they passed through the Red Sea as though they were passing through dry land…”

If you’re reading this post, I’m guessing you have a certain amount of faith. Many of us say we have faith—but what does that really mean? Has your faith ever been tested? Has it been proved?

Each one of us will face moments in life when we question our faith in God. That struggle looks different for everyone. For some, it may be the loss of someone deeply loved. Others may suffer mistreatment from friends or family. And for many, the challenges go even deeper—addiction, abuse, poverty, homelessness, pain, suffering, or persecution.

Moses stood on the banks of the Red Sea in just such a moment. The entire nation of God’s people was behind him, fleeing from a hostile army. In front of them was a vast sea, miles across and hundreds of feet deep. The only thing that could save them was a miracle—so extraordinary it defied imagination.

And then, it happened. The sea opened and the earth beneath them dried into a pathway to freedom. They became eyewitnesses to one of the most dramatic, unfathomable miracles ever seen.

That kind of miracle doesn’t happen to all of us. Let’s be honest—the Red Sea only opened once.

But it opened.

God saved His people so that you and I could look back and marvel at His power and love. So, what does that mean for your faith journey?

It means this: God offers freedom from your bondage to sin. He will deliver you from it and He will knock down every wall necessary to get you where you need to be.

Read that last line again.

He will get you where you need to be—not necessarily where you want to be. Our goal is to bring glory to Him. Faith is about your journey, but it’s ultimately about His glory.

When you grasp that, your faith will become a game-changer—not only in your life, but in the lives of those around you. God was guiding Moses for all of His people—not just for Moses.
