Day 56 – All The Days
Psalm 23:6 — “…all the days of my life.”
A day is a big deal in the Bible. It starts with 7 days of creation and concludes with the Day of Judgement. In between there are the Sabbath Day, the Day of Atonement, the Day of the Lord, the Day of Visitation, the Day of Salvation and the Day of Redemption.
David wasn’t thinking about any of those when he wrote Psalm 23. For David, the words were intensely personal. He was thinking about his days. Days that make up a human life.
Every one of our days is a gift from God. Every morning we open our eyes to find that God has given us another day. A day to live. To serve Him. To love someone. Another day to make something right—to begin again.
Lamentations 3:22–23 says, “…His compassions never fail. They are new every morning.”
Have you ever stopped to think about that? Every morning is a reminder that God’s mercy has not run out.
But, we only have so many mornings. There will eventually be a day when we don’t open our eyes again, a last day when we take our final breath. It’s good to reminds ourselves that our days are not unlimited and that one day we will give an account for how we lived them.

You can feed a family. Encourage a friend. Share the gospel. Forgive someone. Say, “I love you”. Pray for someone. There is so much that can happen in one day.
How many of our days pass without thinking like that? Paul had a different perspective. “…reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal...” (Philippians 3:14)
Paul was pursuing something. He had a goal and every day was another opportunity to reach for it.
David says God’s goodness and mercy pursue him. Are we pursuing God with the same intentionality?
Every day that God gives us is another opportunity to take a step closer to Him—closer to becoming the person He wants us to be.
So what have you done with today? Begin with a simple prayer: “Lord, You have given me another day. Help me use it for You.”
Then go live it.
