A Pathway Home
Have you considered the incredible love and mercy that it takes for God to even allow this process to exist?

A Pathway Home
In Psalm 51:3, David wrote, “For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me.”
Just like you and me, David wasn’t perfect, but he understood the depth and seriousness of sin. Sin is the reason we are alienated from God. Our lifelong goal, now, is to have that relationship with God restored. So, how do we do that?
Well, the first step is to realize that our sin has to be dealt with. The Bible describes sin as a stain that needs to be removed. David explains that process:
Psalms 51:9-10
“Hide Your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
Four things have to happen for restoration to take place. I’ll discuss those later this week, but there is something else that we need to get right today.
Have you considered the incredible love and mercy that it takes for God to even allow this process to exist? Think about what has to take place. God created you and I to share His love with us. That is what He designed us for—to love Him.
But, we rejected that plan, choosing to pursue our own wants and desires. By sinning, we have rejected His love for us, walked away from Him and ignored Him to a degree that is neglectful and even hateful. Yet, He has reached out to us and offered us a pathway back.
Take some time out this weekend and think about that. How do you feel when you are rejected? How do you react to neglect and hate?
God chose forgiveness and restoration. That is worth meditating on for a couple of days. Come back here tomorrow and we will learn how it all takes place.
Proverbs 18:1
“He who separates himself seeks his own desire...”
