8 Things To Be Thankful For - You Are Forgiven
I’ve been preaching about forgiveness lately and I can’t get over the words of Jesus in Matthew 12. He said that our sins will be forgiven, but it’s not enough to say it that way. He used the word “all”. He is saying that there is no sin that cannot be forgiven. Think about that for a minute. (Go ahead … I’ll wait)
Now, He does go on to mention that there is an unpardonable sin, but that’s for another discussion on another day. Today, let’s think about the scope and depth of God’s forgiveness. Let’s start with this verse:
Romans 8:33
“Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the One who justifies.”
The ramifications of that statement are mind-boggling. What Paul is saying is that if God has justified you, there is no one who can call you guilty anymore. No one! When you are forgiven, you are forgiven. Just read these verses:
Hebrews 8:12 “I will remember their sins no more.”
Isaiah 43:25 “I am He who blots out your transgressions … and I will not remember your sins.”
I John 1:9 “… He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Hebrews 10:17 “I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.”
Psalms 103:12 “As far as the east is from the west, so far does He remove our transgressions from us.”
Jeremiah 31:34 “For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”
Isaiah 1:18 “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.”
Micah 7:19 “He … will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.”
Romans 8:1 “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
Isaiah 44:22 “I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud and your sins like mist.”
Colossians 1:13-14 “He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
Convinced? Me, too. Today, I am thankful, Lord Jesus, for Your true forgiveness!
