Why Pray? Part 3
What is this telling us about prayer? Prayer is how we learn about God. It’s how we become acquainted with the intricacies of an intimate relationship with our Maker and Creator. Prayer is how we call out for Him to reveal Himself and He tells us that He will honor that prayer.

Why Pray? Part 3
One of the inescapable truths about God is that He is utterly unknowable. Don’t worry, that doesn’t mean what you think it means. It does not mean that we can’t ever know anything about Him. It means that we can only know about Him what He chooses to reveal to us about Himself.
So, how do we have a relationship with a God whom we can’t see, touch, taste, smell or hear? It all starts with prayer. Look at these two verses from the prophet Jeremiah:
Jeremiah 33:3
“Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”
Jeremiah 29:12-13
“Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.“
What is this telling us about prayer? Prayer is how we learn about God. It’s how we become acquainted with the intricacies of an intimate relationship with our Maker and Creator. Prayer is how we call out for Him to reveal Himself and He tells us that He will honor that prayer.
We pray because in coming to God in prayer, we always walk away one step closer to comprehending the incredibly complex picture of who God is.
That’s the goal, right? Our desire is to know Him; to understand who He is and what He wants. So we pray and our eyes are opened and we grow in our knowledge and understanding of Him.
Hebrews 11:6
“He who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.”
