Why is the cross important?

It is the center of the world. If you look at a map, the cross was right about in the middle of things. For most of history, if you lived west of the cross, you would read and write from left to right. From the east side, reading and writing was from right to left. All literature and every language lead to the cross.

The cross is the center of our history. Everything before the cross leads up to it and everything since then has descended from it. We actually follow a calendar with Jesus as the center. All of history points to the cross.

The cross is the center of politics. Every political issue turns and rests on the cross of Jesus. It impacts every nation, every government, every state, every principality - both heavenly and earthly - and every soul on earth.

The cross is the center of humanity. There is exactly one single answer for all of mankind. With the cross comes life, light, wisdom and love. Without it the human race rushes to war and violence, stumbles in darkness, proclaims a wisdom preached by fools and loves their sin more than their God.

The world is broken and the cross is its healing. If only the world knew…

1 Corinthians 1:23-25

“But we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness, but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.”
