When It Seems Like God Is Not There

We have all been there. When was the last time you prayed and thought, "Is anybody up there? Are You listening? Why haven't You answered me?"

As Christians who pray, doesn’t it seem like there are times when our prayers are not being answered? What are we supposed to do when it seems like God is not there? Well, here are a couple of things to remember.

First, God DOES hear us. He ALWAYS hears His people when they pray—believing and from the heart. The Apostle John wrote:

1 John 5:14

"This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us."

Second, He knows us. He knows our needs and our hearts. Jesus, in the Sermon on the Mount, said this to His Disciples when He taught them how to pray:

Matthew 6:8

"...your Father knows what you need before you ask Him."

Third, He cares about you and wants to help you. He has not forgotten you or abandoned you. Peter tells us to cast all of our burdens on Him, “...because He cares for you." (I Peter 5:7)

So, if He hears us, knows us and He wants to help us, why do we seem to have prayers that go unanswered?

God is not missing and He is not far away. He is right where He said He will be. Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll look at a few of the reasons that we feel like God is not answering our prayers. This is not going to be a series but I will share a few thoughts on this from time to time.

Psalms 17:6

"I have called upon You, for You will answer me, O God; incline Your ear to me, hear my speech."
