When God Is Silent

When Heaven Feels Quiet

Hebrews 4:16

“Let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace…”

There are prayers that come easily. And then there are prayers that feel like effort. You say the words but they feel familiar—almost routine. So, You ask again … but nothing seems to move.

And eventually, the question creeps in: Is this doing anything?

That’s where many people begin to drift. Not in belief—but in practice. Prayer becomes less frequent. It eventually becomes less urgent. Less real.

But Jesus tells a different story.

In Luke 18:1–8, A woman keeps coming to ask for something. She keeps asking and keeps returning.

Her persistence isn’t pointless. In fact, It IS the point. You see, prayer in silence is not about immediate results. It’s about continued trust. It’s about choosing to come back again—even when nothing has changed yet.

So you keep coming. Not because you see the answer but because you trust the One you’re speaking to. Silence in prayer forces a decision. Will you keep coming or quietly step back?

When answers don’t come quickly, prayer stops feeling like a transaction and starts becoming a relationship. You’re no longer coming just to receive something. You’re coming because you trust the One you’re speaking to.

And that’s what God is after. He doesn’t just give answers. He gives something far more valuable—nearness.

God uses silence in prayer to draw you into deeper dependence, not to discourage you from coming.

Luke 18:7

now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them?
