What Are You Doing?

So let’s make that personal. How are you doing that? Shouldn’t that be our goal every day, to bring Light to at least one dark corner of this world?

What Are You Doing?

I like answering questions. I often get asked really tough ones and, from time to time, I even get asked a question that I can’t answer.

Although I enjoy being challenged to find ways to explain things to people, there is a particular type of question that really gets to me. Every once in a while, I get asked a question that changes who I am as a person. Like this one: "What are you doing?"

In the past, I have answered that question from many different perspectives. I’ve wrestled with it and tossed it around in my mind. Today, I'd like to ask YOU this question. What are YOU doing?

Let me tell you where I’m going with this. What are you doing for the Kingdom of God? What do you do, day after day, to make life better here on earth? Jesus said, in Matthew 5:13, that we are His light on earth. Then, He went on to say,

Matthew 5:16

"Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven."

So let’s make that personal. How are you doing that? Shouldn’t that be our goal every day, to bring Light to at least one dark corner of this world?

Have you prayed for someone today? Spoken an encouraging word? Sent someone a card or put a smile on a face? Offered to help someone with a problem they are struggling with?

What have you done that allows you to sit back at the end of this day and say, "I made the world a better place for someone, today?"

It's not that hard. Really, it isn’t. Start today by asking God where He wants you to begin. Look around you for people who need you. God has put you next to them for that very purpose today. Reach out and bring some Light into that life.

I'm praying for it.

Ephesians 5:14

For this reason it says, “Awake, sleeper and arise from the dead and Christ will shine on you.”
