Walking In The Light
Jesus said, “I am the Light of the world.”

Walking In The Light
The Bible has a great deal to say about that. In one of my favorite passages, Isaiah spoke of people who were “walking in darkness” and “groping” for light.
Isaiah 59:9-10
“Therefore justice is far from us, and righteousness does not overtake us; We hope for light, but behold, darkness, for brightness, but we walk in gloom. We grope along the wall like blind men. We grope like those who have no eyes…”
John, wrote about a Light that came into the world—and declared that “the Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”
Jesus said, “I am the Light of the world.”
Paul told believers that they were once darkness, but now were “Light in the Lord,” and challenged them to “walk as children of Light.”
Revelation gives us a glimpse of where this story ultimately ends—a place where there will be no more night. So perhaps the question isn’t:
“Why is the world so dark?”
Perhaps the better question is:
“What does God want us to do with the light He has given us?”
Over the next several days, I want us to explore that question together.
We’ll look at where the darkness came from, why humanity so often chooses darkness over light, why Jesus came as the Light of the world, what it means to walk in His light and how we can shine His light into the darkness around us.
John 3:19
“This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil.”
Because the good news is this:
Darkness may surround us, but darkness is temporary and it doesn’t win in the end.
God said, “Let there be light.” And there was light. And when the darkness of this world seems overwhelming, we need to remember something:
The Light is still shining.
