The Voice of the Lord

I was recently asked how you can tell the voice of God from the voice of Satan or of yourself within you. That is a question every person needs to know the answer to if they are going to follow the proper guidance in their life.

The Voice of the Lord (by Tim Klink of Prison Discipleship Ministry)

Psalm 29:4

The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.

I was recently asked how you can tell the voice of God from the voice of Satan or of yourself within you. That is a question every person needs to know the answer to if they are going to follow the proper guidance in their life.

The common saying “just follow your heart” is certainly not from God. In fact, God's Word teaches us just the opposite.

Jeremiah 17:9

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

The voice of the Lord will always line up 100% with God's Word; the voice of Satan or self may contain God's Word but will have error. The voice of the Lord is powerful and will always bring about things that are called “impossible” with man for His glory and man’s blessing. The voice of Satan and self will always suggest things that fuel pride, and will ultimately bring destruction of our fellowship with God within us. The voice of the Lord brought about all that we see, including man, by simply speaking it into existence, thus proclaiming “I AM.” The voice of Satan brought sin and God’s curse upon all of creation by proclaiming, “I will be…”

The voice of the Lord is full of majesty. Only the voice of God could bring about something so majestic as the endless array of stars in the sky. Only the voice of God could bring about the majestic healing of man physically, as well as emotionally and spiritually. Only the voice of God could majestically announce to man concerning his redemption from sin, “It is Finished!”

The voice of Satan brings an appearance of majesty in its temptations, but in reality is only lies. The voice of self within us strives to tear us from the power and majesty that is only found in the voice of God. Just as our voice is used to create words which we communicate with, the voice of God also is used to create words which are called “God's Word” the Bible.

It does matter which voice we listen to moment by moment in our life. Which voice are you following?
