The Creating Word: Making Truth True
Genesis 1:3
Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
It took me a long time to figure this one out. I always had a high regard for God’s Word, but I didn’t fully understand it. I didn’t put it all together. Let me spell it out so you can see it, too.
In Isaiah 55, there’s a passage that describes God’s Word in a way I hadn’t really considered before. It tells us that God’s Word is sent — and that it accomplishes what it is sent to do.
Think about that for a moment. We’re talking about speech. How does speech make that happen?
One day I was reading in the book of Mark where Jesus calmed the sea (Mark 4:35–41). He didn’t do anything dramatic. There was no magic wand, no showmanship, no waving of the hand or shouting into the wind. He simply spoke.
The disciples were so shocked that they began to ask, “Who is this?”
What they witnessed was the actual Word of God being displayed in its truest form: the spoken Word. It is God's Word that has that kind of power.
In the book of Hebrews, there’s a small verse that reveals the Word’s true power:
Hebrews 6:18
“…it is impossible for God to lie…”
Why is that important? We already know that God doesn’t lie — but what that verse reveals is far more important than just a lesson in morality. It's saying this: God cannot lie because His Word has the power of creating. So, whatever He speaks actually BECOMES TRUTH. It is literally impossible for the Creator to lie.
Now, take that knowledge and look at this verse from Paul:
1 Thessalonians 2:13
“…when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the Word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe.”
Let this promise sink in deeply. You have that same Word living within you. His Word resides in your heart, and He has given you the power and authority to bear fruit and to succeed for His Kingdom.
Does that change the way you live your life for Him?
