The Acts Of Worship - Worship In Holy Array
1 Chronicles 16:29
“Bring an offering, and come before Him; worship the LORD in holy array.”
As Christians, we are called to come before our God “in holy array”. That means worship has to be real and sincere, with pure hearts and undivided motives. But, let’s be real. We have all been guilty of some kind of fake worship. I’ve caught myself doing it and I’ve seen it in others. I mean, we are imperfect human beings. So, if we can only worship when we are right with God, how can we actually EVER worship? Is it even possible?
It all depends on the heart. We can never, ever perfectly worship God with hearts that are stained and broken. Yet we are called to do it. There must be a way, right? Of course there is! Look at this verse:
Isaiah 41:10
“I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you.”
Your heart will never be right until Jesus is planted firmly in the middle of it and your heart is His throne. You have to give that heart to Jesus and let HIM prepare you for God. King David, who struggled mightily to keep his heart right with God, wrote this:
Psalms 51:7-19
“Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness, let the bones which You have broken rejoice. Hide Your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me ... O Lord, open my lips, that my mouth may declare Your praise. ... The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise ... Then You will delight in righteous sacrifices.”
Let Jesus lead your heart to the altar of God. There you will find a God who is waiting for you, who desires your worship and love and who will cleanse you and bless you in return for it.
