The Acts Of Worship - Tremble (Part 1 of 3)

1 Chronicles 16:30

“Tremble before Him, all the earth.”

I want to warn you, I’ve been looking forward to writing about this word since this series started. The idea of trembling is prominent in some of my favorite Bible Verses. There is something about the idea of trembling before the Lord that engulfs everything that worship is about.

There is nothing about trembling that is not half-hearted or entry level. It is all-in worship at a sincerely authentic level. Trembling before the Lord is genuine in that it requires the full engagement of our bodies, our hearts and our minds. It is worship in its purest form. So, in many ways, this act of worship is the exclamation point on this series from I Chronicles 16. Everything that has gone before should lead us up to this point. All of our seeking, singing, remembering, giving, telling, proclaiming and giving of thanks lead us to this response. We tremble at the recognition of who God is and what He has done for us.

So, what does it mean to tremble and what causes us to do it? Tomorrow, we’ll start breaking it down and we’ll learn the deep truths of what it really means to tremble before our God.
