The Acts Of Worship - Seek (Part 1)
You may not think about faces much in the Bible but that word occurs over 2100 times from the very first words of Genesis (The face of the deep) to Revelation. It was the brilliant light of God’s face that illuminated the deep before creation.

The Acts Of Worship - Seek (Part 1)
1 Chronicles 16:11
“Seek the LORD and His strength; seek His face continually.”
Seeking God is what we do in worship. In the Old Testament, worship was what took place when you came face to face with God. That is what each one of us is after: the presence of God.
The Bible has a way to express that thought. In the Scriptures, the presence of God is referred to as being “Before the face of God.”
You may not think about faces much in the Bible but that word occurs over 2100 times from the very first words of Genesis (The face of the deep) to Revelation. It was the brilliant light of God’s face that illuminated the deep before creation.
Adam and Eve were exiled from God’s face in Eden and mankind will be reunited with His face in the Garden in Revelation. God’s face shines upon us in the Numbers 6:24-26, it brings daily delight in Proverbs 8:30-31 and in Habakkuk 2:19-20, all the world is silent before His face.
Which all begs the question: How can you seek His face when God is Spirit? He has no body to look at. In fact, the Bible tells us that no one can see His face and live. Well, there is a face to God, isn’t there? God came to earth and wore a face with eyes, ears, nose and a mouth.
But that was an earthly face. That was just flesh and blood. But Jesus was resurrected into a glorified body where all of that changed. Wait until you read what happened when someone actually looked into the face of the resurrected Jesus. Wow!
Psalms 13:1
“How long, O LORD? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?”
