The Acts Of Worship - Remember (Part 2 of 3)

1 Chronicles 16:12

“Remember His wonderful deeds…”

In the Bible, remembering is doing. When we remember something, we are acting upon something that we have committed to. That’s what the Christian walk is all about.

When we come to worship our Creator, we are told to remember his wonderful deeds. This is the whole purpose of the Bible. The Bible is the record of God’s redemptive activities in the world since the beginning of time. We are told to remember what is done because that creates in us a desire to be like Him … to praise Him for His goodness … to honor Him as Lord and to worship Him as God hi is above all things in our lives.

God is a doer, above all else. He acts. We can talk all we want about morality, ethics, theology, religion and all that stuff, but if we are not doing what He told us to do, our faith is meaningless. James put it this way.

James 2:17

“Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.”

John also wrote about this.

1 John 2:6

“The one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.”

In other words, talk is cheap. God is a God of action and He requires His people to do good deeds. We are saved by grace, not by works, but the man or woman that is saved has the Holy Spirit of God in their heart. They have surrendered their life completely to Jesus and are now ardent followers of God. That person will by necessity be doing those wonderful deeds just like God commands us to do.

Remember His wonderful deeds because that is exactly how the believer walks in faith.
