The Acts Of Worship - Make Known His Deeds
Towards the top of the list of ways we are to worship God, we find the most basic of Hebrew words. “Yada” occurs over 800 times in the Bible. It means to know or to make known.
1 Chronicles 16:8
“Make known His deeds among the peoples.”
King David is telling us to know God but this word goes so much deeper than you think. This is a verb of relationship. It’s the same word that is used to describe the intimacy of marriage. It is used to describe the knowledge of good and evil in Genesis or knowing the way of wisdom in Job.
It describes how God knows the hearts of His people and their suffering and how Pharaoh came to know God through the plagues. To know is to have a relationship.
There are 3 more words coming up that tell us HOW to make Him known (speak, proclaim, tell). What David is saying here is that we must have a relationship with Him and we must make that known to others. We must tell the world about God and what He has done for us. Look at this passage from another Psalm:
Psalms 66:16-18
“Come and hear, all who fear God, and I will tell of what He has done for my soul. I cried to Him with my mouth, and He was praised with my tongue…”
When we experience The Living God; His love, mercy and grace so overwhelm us that we are compelled to share that with others. We must tell the world what He has done for us and that He can do it for them, too!
