Sought
We also can become so involved with life that we fail to hear the voice of God speaking to us. He is seeking us regardless if we are seeking Him or not. And even though we have placed Him in a position that is less than the highest in our life, He still is present, waiting for us to respond. Situations we find ourselves in are caused by our own actions or the actions of others, but those are the things that God uses to let us know that even though He is there, we have not sought Him.

Sought (by Tim Klink of Prison Discipleship Ministry)
Isaiah 65:1
I am sought of them that asked not for Me; I am found of them that sought Me not: I said, Behold Me, behold Me, unto a nation that was not called by My name.
One thing that inmates of jails and prisons have in common is the fact that they are accused of violating the law in some degree. Another thing they have in common is that none of them arrive at the jail or prison expecting to find Jesus waiting for them. Their mind is occupied with their case, and how are they going to deal with it legally.
It is amazing to watch as some will be reminded of what they had forgotten: Jesus. They came in not thinking that their true freedom is found in Him, but many discover that is exactly what they need in their life. The law brought them there for a reason, but God has brought them there for a much larger, eternal reason.
Some arrive never knowing anything about God’s love through Jesus Christ, but as they see others with Bibles, Christian books, Bible study lessons, and a chapel service, either live or on their television, they begin to hear God’s voice speaking to them. They were too busy outside to hear that voice, but now that they have nothing but time to listen, God speaks.
As God speaks to them they often respond, and many of them are on their way to establishing the relationship with God through Jesus Christ that they needed all along.
For those incarcerated, most realize it would have been better to simply obey the law. Considering the situations we find ourselves in, wouldn’t it be better to just stop and listen to God?
