We only know His voice by spending more time listening to His Word rather than to others. There are so many in this high-speed world filled with voices calling them who do not know the voice of Jesus telling them of His unconditional love. Seek today to tell them of His voice.

John 10:27
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”
It is amazing how many “voices” try to get our attention every day. There are those who voice their opinion as we commute to work, those at work who are seemingly in need of our attention constantly, and when the day is over, and we try to relax, the endless procession of commercials on the television make us want to scream. Just living a “normal” day brings so many different voices all seeking our time.
When we do find a place where it is quiet, we bring our cell phones with us. We multiply the voices in our life by browsing, which invites more voices into our life, some often harmful. Of course, we set priorities of who we respond to and who we ignore, but just the same, the voices are constantly wanting us to respond.
The voices we respond to, and allow to shape our thoughts and actions are the voices of the ones we know the best, which are those we spend the most time with. When I hear the voice of my wife, I respond by setting everything else aside to hear her.
God has created within us the ability to choose how we respond to the voices of those wishing our attention. We can follow them, or we can ignore them as we choose. However, one thing seems to guide our decision, and that is our familiarity with the voice we are hearing. Those who are under the control of sin in their lives continually hear sin’s call, and respond because that voice is familiar to them.
In the verse above, the sheep hear the Shepherd’s voice and obey it because they have spent time with Him, and know His voice as one that brings comfort, and safety. How familiar is the voice of the Holy Spirit to you among the countless number of voices in your day? We only know His voice by spending more time listening to His Word rather than to others. There are so many in this high-speed world filled with voices calling them who do not know the voice of Jesus telling them of His unconditional love.
