My Testimony
I grew up in that church without ever meeting Jesus. Oh, I knew about Him , but most of us in that church didn’t get it. There’s a difference between knowing ABOUT Him and knowing Him.

My Testimony
My wife and I were driving home from church yesterday, and we were talking about how amazing it has been to be a part of A Preacher And His Barns. It’s crazy to think that this ministry started with just a few simple barn pictures and Bible verses that I sent to some men that I was working with.
I told her that most of the people who read my social media posts don’t even know who I am. So, chances are that you are reading this right now and you’ve never heard my testimony, you don’t know anything about my background and you probably don’t even know my name. Do you know how this ministry got started, or why? What is the connection with barns and preaching? Why do I do this every day?
Well, that’s going to change this week. Over the next couple of days, I’ll be sharing my testimony about how I met Jesus and how I started photographing barns. So, let’s get started!
As a child in Ohio, I grew up in and around a church. It was a beauty, too, built in 1838-1841 with a 112 foot high steeple. That church was the Atwater Congregational Church. It was a beautiful piece of architecture but there was something missing.
I grew up in that church without ever meeting Jesus. Oh, I knew about Him , but most of us in that church didn’t get it. There’s a difference between knowing ABOUT Him and knowing Him. People who know about Jesus do church stuff, sing church songs, and say church things but that’s not Jesus.
The Jesus of the Bible isn’t just an idea or a name that we like a lot. Jesus is a living person who loves, transforms and empowers His people. He lives among us and fills us with His love in a way that changes men and women. We become new creatures who are drawn into a living relationship with God. I never knew about that Jesus.
In 1972, my family moved to Colorado where my sister and I started going to a new church with our neighbors. Tomorrow, I’ll tell you how Jesus interrupted my teenage life and gave me direction and purpose.
Proverbs 23:26
Give me your heart, my son, and let your eyes delight in my ways.
