Living as New — Daily Renewal in Christ
This New Year’s Eve, let us make simple, grace-filled commitments.

Living as New — Daily Renewal in Christ
Now we come to the practical question: How do we live as new people when tomorrow’s challenges are still hidden from view?
Being made new is not a one-time even; it is a life we step into day by day. Scripture calls us to ongoing renewal. The Apostle Paul explains this daily transformation in clear and practical terms:
“That, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new self.” —Ephesians 4:22–24
Think of it as daily dressing. Every morning we face a choice: Will we put on the old habits—fear, bitterness, selfishness—or will we clothe ourselves with the new—compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience?
“So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” —Colossians 3:12
Renewal happens as we fix our attention on Christ. The more we behold Him through Scripture, prayer, and worship, the more we are changed into His likeness. Read 2 Corinthians 3:18.
God’s Spirit uses ordinary means—reading His Word, praying and walking in fellowship with other believers—to strengthen our new life.
There will be days when old patterns feel especially strong, particularly when storms arise. But remember this truth: the same power that raised Jesus from the dead now lives in you.
“These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead.” —Ephesians 1:19–20
This New Year’s Eve, let us make simple, grace-filled commitments: to open the Bible daily; to pray earnestly about the unseen road ahead; and to surround ourselves with people who point us to Jesus. These are not resolutions meant to earn God’s favor—they are means by which we we grow each new day.
Walking backward into 2026, we don’t need to see the whole path. We only need to keep our eyes fixed on the One who has already walked it perfectly—and who now walks it with us.
Tomorrow: the ultimate hope that makes every new beginning worth celebrating.
